The Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries by Charlaine Harris
I started rereading the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries by Charlaine Harris to see if they were as enjoyable as I remembered, having read a couple and watched the HBO True Blood series. They really are a ton of fun, filled with vampires, shape shifters, Maenads, and who knows what else. It is a series that has a really nice touch of gently mocking the vampire genre while maintaining an exciting story. The series was written between 2001 and 2014 but doesn’t seem dated. It also makes some nice jabs at misogyny, racism, and homophobia. We have a lot of used copies in stock, priced $1.74 to $4.00. I recommend them for enjoyable page turny, beach, vacation, before bed reading.
